Company Overview
At Butterfield Foundation, our mission is to manifest the redeeming love of Christ by promoting the holistic well-being of individuals. Rooted in the principles of the Free Methodist Church USA, we focus on addressing the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of those we serve. Our values of compassion, integrity, and service guide everything we do as we strive to make a positive impact in communities locally and globally.
Company History
The legacy of Butterfield Foundation dates back to 1900 when a group of Free Methodist women, known as Deaconesses, answered God’s call to minister to unwed mothers in Oklahoma. Their dedication led to the establishment of the Oklahoma Rescue Mission in Guthrie, later renamed the Holmes Home of Redeeming Love in 1909. The ministry relocated to farmland north of Oklahoma City, where a nursing school was established in 1923. In 1931, the first medical facility was constructed, which officially became Deaconess Hospital in 1944.
In 2005, Deaconess Hospital transitioned to a for-profit healthcare network, and the proceeds from the sale formed Butterfield Memorial Foundation. Named in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Butterfield, whose contributions to Deaconess Hospital and the Holmes Home of Redeeming Love were instrumental, the Foundation continues their legacy of compassionate care and service to the community.
