Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, operating invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans; explain procedures, treatments, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education
• Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, and arterial puncture according to policy
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement; perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes
• Perform 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines; perform endotracheal intubation via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope
• Set up, self-test, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; document all treatments, patient responses, and maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging records

Required Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or certification as required by state
• ICU experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Proficiency with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation equipment
• Ability to perform arterial puncture, pulmonary function studies, and endotracheal intubation

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing procedures including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
• Familiarity with PleurX catheter drainage and video laryngoscope systems
• Experience assisting with bronchoscopy and percutaneous tracheostomy procedures
