Description
This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our Kirkland, Washington office every Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote on all other days.
Northwest Multiple Listing Service is a member-owned, not-for-profit organization powering one of the largest real estate listing networks in the Pacific Northwest. We support more than 30,000 real estate agents and serve as the region’s source for reliable and comprehensive listing data, tools, and support.
The Role
As Senior Corporate Counsel, you’ll play a key role on NWMLS’s legal team, supporting the organization across all areas, including state-wide real-estate transaction forms, member rules and regulations, dispute resolution, training, and compliance.
What You’ll Do
- Manage state-wide real estate transaction forms, including new form development, existing forms updates, revisions, and communications
- Manage member rules and regulations, including new rule development, existing rule revisions, and communications
- Design and implement a broker education program focused on real estate law, forms, rules, licensing requirements and similar educational opportunities, including clock hour courses
- Lead training sessions and represent NWMLS through classes, industry events, community outreach, office meetings, and written communications
- Advise and support members with legal inquiries related to real estate transactions, forms, rules, brokerage practices, and industry trends
- Develop and cultivate a member-facing database of frequently asked questions
- Support the company’s member dispute resolution functions (discipline and arbitration)
- Serve as a liaison with local/state Realtor associations and state regulators
- Participate in various industry groups, both local and national
- Remain current on changes in laws, rules, and best practices affecting the real estate industry
- Occasional travel in Washington and nationally
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer

Requirements
Qualifications
- Law degree from an ABA accredited law school
- At least five (5) years’ experience as a practicing attorney, and two (2) years of in-house legal experience
- Familiarity with real estate brokerage law is a plus
- Strong public speaking skills
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to translate complex legal advice into actionable, practical business guidance
- Excellent organization and time management skills, including the ability to juggle competing business priorities
