POSITION SUMMARY:
KERA is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to perform and coordinate accounting duties as part of the Finance team. Their responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.
The Senior Accountant should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. They should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.
This position is classified as FLSA exempt, is not eligible for overtime and reports to the Controller.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
General ledger month end close procedures including preparation/calculation and recording of journal entries (recurring, accruals, prepaid, fixed assets, etc.)
Ensure that all journal entries and transactions are properly supported in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
Prepare various financial reports for both internal management and external partners
Assist in preparing for the annual audit, including maintaining clean auditable files.
Investigate and resolve any account discrepancies
Contribute to the development and implementation of new or revised accounting procedures
Uphold and advance KERA’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Document accounting procedures, processes, and internal controls.
Provide guidance and training to others engaged in similar activities
Identify and recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency
Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Three to five years of accounting experience.
Ability to consistently meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to effectively communicate with business partners at all levels Must be reliable and have a strong work ethic – some overtime may be required
Ability to manage priorities while supporting a collaborative workplace culture in a transparent team-oriented environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (ability to perform lookups, pivot tables, etc., to efficiently analyze and organize data that is clear and easy to understand.
BONUS IF YOU BRING:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Non-profit accounting experience
Blackbaud Financial Edge experience
Passion for and experience in public broadcasting
SALARY RANGE
$80,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience

LOCATION:
We expect that this position will work out of our Dallas office at least 50% of the time. (Equivalent to 20 hours per week)
Time in office requirements are subject to change based on the needs of KERA and/or the position.
