We are seeking a highly experienced, self-directed Human Resources Director to establish and operate the full HR function. This is a standalone role responsible for end-to-end HR operations, including payroll and benefits administration, compliance, employee relations, performance management, and HR systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator who can independently design, implement, and manage HR processes with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle HR Ownership

Build, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation from the ground up.
Own employee lifecycle: onboarding, offboarding, records management, and personnel files.
Payroll, Time & Benefits (ADP Workforce Now)
Administer payroll, PTO, and time tracking in ADP Workforce Now (WFN).
Ensure accurate processing, approvals, and compliance with wage & hour laws.
Manage benefits administration (health, dental, vision, leaves of absence, PFML/medical leave).
Act as primary liaison with ADP and benefits brokers/vendors.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Maintain employee handbook, policies, and required postings.
Manage audits, documentation, terminations, and sensitive employee matters with rigor.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
Independently handle employee relations issues, investigations, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
Coach managers on documentation, corrective action, and policy adherence.
Design and manage performance review processes and manager training.
Recruiting & Workforce Support
Partner with leadership on hiring needs and workforce planning.
Manage recruiting coordination, offer letters, onboarding, and new hire orientation.
Maintain job descriptions and support compensation alignment.
Systems, Process & Infrastructure
Own HR systems configuration and adoption (ADP/WFN).
Build scalable HR processes, templates, and internal controls.
Develop HR reporting (headcount, turnover, PTO usage, compliance tracking).
Qualifications
5+ years of HR experience in a generalist or HR manager capacity.
Prior experience as a standalone HR professional or in a small organization with full HR ownership strongly preferred.
Deep working knowledge of payroll, benefits, leaves of absence, and employment law.
Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (or similar HRIS required; ADP strongly preferred).
Proven ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and manage sensitive situations with discretion.
Strong documentation discipline and process orientation.
Excellent executive communication and judgment.
