This position is responsible for performing HR duties and representing the company’s operations in Anchorage, Alaska. Ideal candidates must possess an extremely high level of attention to detail, initiative, discretion and independent judgment with the ability to multi-task; one who is proactive, resourceful and capable of identifying and resolving issues in an effective and efficient manner.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Collaborate with the Human Resources team.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employees. Respond to concerns, complaints and questions as needed.
- Partner with leadership to identify staffing needs. Perform recruiting tasks and onboard personnel.
- Conduct interviews and train management staff on interviewing techniques, selection processes and hiring requirements.
- Monitor employment law, recruiting trends, labor market conditions and compensation competitiveness within Alaska and surrounding regions.
- Process new hires, onboarding, terminations, job changes, benefits enrollment, unemployment claims, etc.
- Assist with processing payroll, timekeeping and HRIS functions.
- Partner with management to address performance concerns, coaching opportunities and workforce development needs.
- Navigate and coordinate leaves of absences and other accommodations (FMLA, state-specific leave, ADA, etc.).\
- Participate and support policy development initiatives and implementations.
- Assist with incident reporting, documentation, workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work evaluations, modified duties and other safety functions.
- Track certifications, licenses and training.
- Plan and support local events (BBQs, retreats, holiday parties, etc.).
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate a high level of ownership, accountability and professionalism when resolving issues.
- Develop positive work relationships with other staff. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information.
- Maintain punctual, reliable and consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SCHEDULE
This is a full-time, in person, 45+ hours per week position. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$75,000 - $90,000 annual salary. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:

Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration (HR specialty preferred) or similar field of study.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience serving in a dedicated Human Resources role.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office, including possessing intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking, analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, high standards and strong internal and external customer service.
- Proven track record of being dependable, with the ability to self-manage, exercise good judgment and exhibit a desire to grow professionally.
- Ability to occasionally travel, including multi-day trips.
- Frequently climb stairs; lift, carry, push and pull up to 30 pounds.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
- Possess a reliable personal vehicle, valid driver license and maintain a safe and insurable driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of Alaska labor markets, employment trends and workforce challenges.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification.
