The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Geriatric Section Head to lead our growing program within the Division of General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics & Palliative Care. This leader will shape a system-wide strategy for outstanding clinical care, education, and research for older adults across inpatient, outpatient, long-term care, and home settings. The ideal candidate will be a patient-centered, compassionate team player as well as a leader with a desire to support the growth of the next generation of healthcare professionals while helping to facilitate the plan for our aging population of patients here at MUSC.
About the Division of Internal Medicine. Geriatrics, and Palliative Care:
We are a collaborative academic division committed to excellence in patient care, education, and research. With more than 40 clinical and research faculty, the division offers a supportive environment where physicians can build rewarding academic careers.
The Geriatrics section is focused on expanding its reach and enhancing care for older adults across inpatient, ambulatory, long-term care, and home-based settings. Faculty have the opportunity to help shape the continued growth of the program while providing high-quality, evidence-based care. As part of an academic health system, faculty can also teach and mentor learners, participate in clinical research, and contribute to initiatives aimed at improving the health and quality of life of older adults.
Required Qualifications:
- BC/BE Internal Medicine or FM Physician with Geriatric Fellowship training
- Eligible for medical licensure in South Carolina
- Demonstrated leadership in academics, teaching, or research
- Collaborative and collegial demeanor with commitment to high-quality patient care
- Academic orientation and enthusiasm for teaching
