Description
SUMMARY
The Real Estate Attorney will serve as an in-house legal resource supporting a family-owned, medium-sized property management and asset management company. This role is responsible for providing practical, business-oriented legal guidance across the company’s real estate portfolio, with a focus on leasing, operations, risk management, and asset strategy. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented professional who understands commercial real estate and values working in a close-knit, entrepreneurial environment.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial real estate leases, amendments, renewals, and related agreements
Provide legal support for property management operations, including vendor contracts, service agreements, and licenses
Advise ownership and management on real estate risk, compliance, and liability matters
Support asset management initiatives, including acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and due diligence
Work closely with property management, accounting, and executive teams to ensure legal alignment with business objectives
Coordinate with outside counsel as needed and manage legal costs efficiently
Monitor and interpret applicable federal, state, and local laws affecting commercial real estate operations
Assist with dispute resolution, including tenant matters, defaults, and enforcement of lease provisions
Maintain organized legal files and ensure consistency across lease and contract documentation
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction(s)
5+ years of experience in commercial real estate law preferred (law firm or in-house experience)
