Description
Position DescriptionSeattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation's largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle's electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Seattle City Light's Fleet and Mobile Equipment Office (FMEO) are looking to hire a Fleet Capital Projects Coordinator (CPC). FMEO manages over 950 pieces of equipment spread out across City Lights territory, including our remote generation sites. This position will design and specification write medium duty electric utility fleet replacement plan while assisting with light and heavy duty. It will also be developing green fleet strategies and technologies to meet our environmental goals and provide cost-effective fleet solutions that align with operational needs. The Fleet CPC will assist the other team members on their capital projects, identify process improvements, and analyze data to identify fleet trends. This position reports to the Fleet Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Here is more about what you'll be doing:
- Develop complex equipment standards for specialized electric utility vehicles, marine vessels, and offroad equipment
- Design and write technical fleet specifications for utility equipment under tight budgetary constraints while keeping accurate records
- Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent fleet projects while strictly adhering to internal and external deadlines to meet utility and customer needs
- Coordinate design reviews with equipment users, departments, environmental, and safety while ensuring they are compliant with all applicable rules and regulations
- Ensure vehicle and equipment compliance with Federal, State and Local regulatory bodies; DOT, Bridge Formula, RCW, WAC, EPA, CFR, CFS, WISHA, OSHA,
- Ensure vehicle and equipment follow standards bodies; ANSI, SAE, FMVSS, ABYC
- Research and recommend equipment solutions, industry trends, emerging technology, and best practices that align with operational, budgetary, and sustainability goals
- Oversee procurement pathways in coordination with purchase and contract teams, including bid development, vendor selection, contract administration, purchase requests, change orders, and invoice issues
- Identify, build, and maintain strong relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and upfitters while monitoring their performance and quality
- Evaluate project costs, monitor progress, ensure accuracy with specifications, prepare project closeout, and budget reconciliation
- Unit lead for Ground Support during Incident Management under the Logistics Section during emergency events
- Be required to work nights and weekends, travel outside of Seattle for equipment meetings, conferences, training events
- Prepare reports for compliancy, peer reviews, evaluations, and presentations as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:
Requires a minimum of three years project or construction management or related experience and a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
- 5 years of fleet project management experience
- NAFA/Certified Automotive Fleet Manager Certification (CAFM)
- Fleet Management Information Systems experience (FMIS Systems)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, etc…)
- Experience with data analysis, identifying trends, and creating KPIs
- Fleet electrification and implementation of alternative fuel vehicles
- Incident Management certified (IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800)
- Knowledge/application of bridge formula and weight distribution analysis
- Possession of a CDL license (Class A or B)

Additional Information
The full salary range for this position is $55.96 to $65.41 per hour.
