As our Financial Planning Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping Council's financial future by driving the delivery of the annual budget, partnering with leaders across the organisation, and providing expert financial advice that supports informed decision-making. Combining technical accounting expertise, strong stakeholder engagement skills and project leadership capability, you'll influence key financial decisions, build capability within the Budget function, and drive continuous improvements across Council's financial planning framework.Your responsibilities will include:End-to-end budget leadership - Lead and coordinate Council's annual budget and formal budget review processes from planning through to delivery.Project delivery excellence - Drive budget project timelines, manage risks, monitor progress and ensure successful outcomes across multiple stakeholders.Executive and stakeholder engagement - Build trusted relationships across Council and confidently present budget information to senior leaders and key decision-makers.Financial systems leadership - Oversee budget administration, system enhancements, maintenance and user support to ensure data integrity and efficiency.People leadership - Lead, coach and develop a small Budget Team, building capability and fostering a high-performance culture.Reporting and insights - Deliver meaningful financial reporting and analysis that supports informed operational and strategic decisions.Continuous improvement - Identify and implement process, governance and system improvements to enhance budgeting and long-term financial planning.Governance and compliance - Maintain budget policies, procedures and guidelines while ensuring legislative and corporate compliance requirements are met.Skills and experience:Extensive experience in budgeting, financial planning, management accounting and financial reporting within a medium to large organisation.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management practices and budget governance frameworks.Demonstrated success leading complex projects from initiation through to delivery.Proven people leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate and build team capability.Advanced stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of an organisation.Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial audiences.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a track record of delivering practical solutions to complex issues.Experience working with financial systems, reporting tools and budgeting platforms, including supporting users and maintaining data integrity.Make sure to read the full Position Description before applying - it outlines everything you need to tailor your resume and cover letter.Why this role stands out:Lead Council's end-to-end budget and influence key financial decisions.Enjoy flexibility, career development and investment in your professional growth.Shape long-term financial strategy while leading a high-impact team.Working for us means enjoying diverse work and gaining opportunities to grow in a region of outstanding natural beauty - Redlands Coast.
