Are you an experienced Financial Controller looking to take the next step in your career with a leading global financial institution? We are seeking a Vice President (VP) to lead financial governance, regulatory reporting, and control frameworks within a dynamic investment banking environment.

Based in Tokyo, you will play a strategic role in ensuring financial reporting accuracy, strengthening governance, and supporting key business decisions. Working closely with senior management and global stakeholders, you'll drive finance transformation initiatives while contributing to the continued growth of a world-class financial services organisation.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the financial close process, financial controls, and reporting activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
• Oversee financial and regulatory reporting for both local and global stakeholders in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Strengthen financial governance by enhancing control frameworks, risk management, and accounting processes.
• Partner with senior business leaders and cross-functional teams to resolve financial issues and provide strategic decision support.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives through automation, process optimisation, and continuous improvement.
• Lead audit coordination, tax compliance, and strategic finance projects across the finance function.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications Experience:

• Extensive experience in Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Accounting, or Finance within the financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of Japanese GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards.
• Experience preparing financial and regulatory reports within a regulated financial institution.
• Proven experience strengthening financial controls, governance, and reporting frameworks.
• Experience working with audit, tax, and finance transformation initiatives.
• Experience within investment banking, securities, or broader financial services is highly desirable.

• Japanese: Intermediate to Business Level

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Understanding of financial products, capital markets, and investment banking operations.
• Experience working within multinational financial institutions.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements in Japan.
• Experience with finance automation, transformation, and process improvement initiatives.
• Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are advantageous.
