Description
Job Summary:
The Controller will work with the CFO to oversee the accounting operations, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results. This role is critical to the financial health and compliance of the organization, directly supporting the CFO in strategic financial management.

Perform additional duties, or substitute for others as required. Additional duties may include but are not limited to, clearing snow and ice from walkways, vehicles, parking lots, and roads using equipment like shovels, snow blowers while applying deicing agents to ensure safety
Essential Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage and help oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, payroll, and grants accounting.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statements.
Work with CFO to coordinate the preparation of the annual operating budget
Oversee the financial aspects of grant management, ensuring compliance with all funder requirements and timely submission of financial reports.
Manage the annual audit process
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal and regulatory requirements related to financial matters.
Provide leadership and supervision for the accounting staff.
Manage Contracts and billing with DDS
Any other duties assigned by Supervisor or Director
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities or vulnerable population preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field is required (CPA strongly preferred but not required).
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, ideally within a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
Preferably 3 years in a supervisory Role
Deep understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and financial compliance.
Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Blackbaud, FNXT).
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferably experience with Massachusetts state contracting
