- Build durable capability – people, processes, and systems
As the ideal candidate, you are:
- A design-forward leader with a strong appreciation for evidence-based design, human-centered planning, and experience-driven healthcare environments
- A trusted advisor, demonstrating executive presence and communicating complex planning, design, and capital concepts clearly to senior leaders, clinicians, and non-design audiences
- Comfortable operating in both the strategic and execution spaces
- Curious and forward-looking, with interest in digital tools, data-informed decision-making, and evolving project delivery methods
- Passionate about developing people, mentoring professionals, and building high-performing teams
Leadership & delivery expectations:
- Provide end?to?end leadership for multiple planning and design projects simultaneously, from early programming through construction and occupancy, with accountability for scope, cost, schedule, quality, and stakeholder alignment
- Serve as the professional registrant of record for Mayo Clinic, with accountability for code compliance across all facilities projects, whether delivered by internal teams or external partners
- Partner closely with the Director of Facilities Project Management, administrative leaders, clinicians, and user groups to ensure functional, operational, and experience?driven design outcomes
- Build and lead multidisciplinary teams of internal staff, consultants, and contractors; make timely, well?reasoned decisions that balance design intent, operational needs, risk, and cost
- Establish and evolve standards, policies, procedures, and continuous quality initiatives for assigned planning and design groups
- Oversee financial performance, contracts, and vendor partnerships to ensure alignment with institutional goals and high?quality service delivery
- Communicate project progress, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to executive leadership and key stakeholders
Requirements
