Description
The Digital Content Coordinator is a key role within San Diego Opera. Opera isn’t just listened to. It’s a visual experience, and before a guest ever takes a seat in the theatre, their attention was probably captured from an email, an ad on the internet, or something on social media – all visuals created by the Digital Content Coordinator.
If you’re the ideal candidate, you’re a Photoshop whiz who’s very comfortable creating graphics and working with online social media and web publishing platforms. You're a self-starter and problem-solver with a strong work ethic and impeccable attention to detail, who takes responsibility and ownership of projects from start to finish. You’re a designer/creator excited to use your talent, taste, and creativity growing the audience for stunning, world-class opera in Southern California.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Content Coordinator position is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position with a full benefits package.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities
- Create marketing emails using Photoshop and Wordfly, San Diego Opera’s email marketing platform
- Create digital ads for internet ad campaigns
- Create social media content for Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms
- Generate email lists in Tessitura, San Diego Opera’s CRM software
- Edit video for ads, as needed
- Be present at performances as a representative of San Diego Opera
Qualifications and Traits
- 1–3 years of experience in digital content creation, social media management, email marketing, or a related field (unpaid work counts too!)
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Hands-on experience managing Facebook and Instagram, including content creation, scheduling, and basic analytics.
- Experience creating and sending email campaigns using platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
- Excellent visual storytelling and copywriting skills, with a keen eye for design.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to gracefully handle multiple priorities in stressful situations and a fast-paced environment.
- A willingness to take ownership of all digital projects, and do the work necessary to meet deadlines and maintain the Opera’s high standards.

- Experience in the performing arts, opera, classical music, or another not-for-profit organization.
- Familiarity with video editing tools (Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar).
- Basic knowledge of digital advertising best practices.
- Basic knowledge of HTML tags
Other requirements
- Weekday schedule is in-office, Monday through Friday. There is a work-from-home option one day per week.
- Weekend and evening work is required for performances. There are four opera productions, and four performance weeks per year.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods during events.
- Knowledge and love of opera is a plus. Desire to learn more about opera is a must.
