Description
Join our Software Engineering Group as a DevOps/Automation Engineer, where you'll help modernize Business Banking technology by improving how software is built, tested, deployed, and operated. You'll partner with technologists across the globe, strengthen Agile delivery, and increase automation across the SDLC. You'll also help the team adopt AI-assisted engineering (for example, GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT) to accelerate delivery and improve quality-while keeping stakeholders informed on progress and outcomes.As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Consumer & Community Banking Technology team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Build and run DevOps/automation solutions that improve end-to-end software delivery (build, test, release, deploy, operate).
- Set up, manage, and improve DevOps tools and workflows to increase reliability, speed, and developer experience.
- Automate repeatable operational and engineering tasks using tools such as Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
- Enable container-based delivery by implementing and administering platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Cloud Foundry.
- Support Agile ways of working and help teams continuously improve processes, tooling, and engineering practices.
- Integrate AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) into development and DevOps workflows to improve productivity and code quality.
- Track progress against transformation goals and share clear status updates with the team and key stakeholders.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- 5-7+ years of hands-on experience across application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to build productive working relationships across teams.
- Administration, deployment, and enablement experience with source control tools such as Subversion and Git (including Stash/Bitbucket).
- Experience implementing and administering containers using Docker and platforms such as Kubernetes, AWS, and Cloud Foundry.
- Automation experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
- Experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Strong execution skills to manage work, measure outcomes, and deliver against transformation goals.
- Exposure to AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) and ability to apply AI-assisted development, automation, or code review to improve efficiency.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Java development experience.
- Experience integrating AI tools into DevOps pipelines and automation frameworks.
- Strong interest in staying current with emerging AI capabilities and engineering best practices
