City Light has created the new role of Capital Projects Coordinator, Supervisor for its Development Review Program. In this role, you will serve as lead subject matter expert for City Light on all things related to public and private Development Review, and supervise the work of subordinate personnel responsible for coordinating the planning, design, and permitting processes of private and public development. Additionally, you will establish a metric collection system to inform rate of permit intake to monitor as a barometer of service labor impacts. You will also establish a permit record document control system for approved permit plan records serving as a legal database record resource. This position leads, controls, and shapes processes related to permit review for City Light Department. This work directly supports customer service and reduces impacts for each customer we serve. This position reports to the Engineering Customer Systems Senior Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Here is more about what you'll be doing:

• Supervises subordinates involved in insuring complete review of development permitting requests for a department or major program in a department.
• Reviews subordinates' work products, evaluates performance, approves vacations and leaves of absences, and performs other personnel administrative tasks.
• Attends planning meetings to determine objectives, program plans and project scopes as related to the development review function.
• Ensures complete development review by City Light Department for complex capital and other City funded/sponsored projects to ensure compliance with City Light Construction Standards, directives, and guidelines.
• Provides prompt customer service response for inquires related to the permit review processes for private and public development.
• Prepares reports, correspondence, and official documents regarding capital and other City funded/sponsored project status, and progress.
• Directs public relations work activities associated with capital and other City funded/sponsored project programs and gives presentations.
• Manages special or unique projects or portions of projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:

Education: a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Business Administration or related field

Experience: a minimum of five years' project or construction management or related experience, and supervisory ability (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Most work is performed in a normal City work/office environment.
• Field assignments entail exposure to all types of weather and hazardous construction sites.

License, Certification and Other Requirements

Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required.

Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:

• Knowledge of City Light electrical service requirements
• Experience with interdepartmental capital development in a government setting
• Familiarity with building codes, especially within the City Light service area
• Familiarity with City Light construction standards
• Supervisory experience
• Customer service experience
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Additional Information

The full salary range for this position is $66.90 to $77.64 per hour.
