Step into a high-impact leadership role at the center of India's currencies and emerging markets business. You will lead a front-line operations team, own end-to-end trade lifecycle delivery, and drive the control and regulatory compliance agenda in one of the firm's most dynamic local markets. You will work closely with the front office, control functions, and senior stakeholders - bringing deep India market expertise and a strong automation mindset to a team that is growing and evolving. This is a role for a seasoned operations leader who is ready to set direction, develop talent, and deliver results.As a Vice President in Currencies Emerging Market Operations, you will lead the team responsible for end-to-end trade lifecycle execution across foreign exchange, rates derivatives, options, fixed income, and money markets. Reporting directly to the Indian Branch Head of Market Operations, you will own operational delivery, control strength, and regulatory compliance across a fast-evolving local market. You will partner with the front office, finance, compliance, legal, and audit to represent operations with confidence in senior forums. You will also sponsor automation and process improvement initiatives that reduce risk and build scalable capacity as the business grows.
Job responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end trade lifecycle delivery across foreign exchange, rates derivatives, options, fixed income, and money markets, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong escalation management.
- Own India regulatory and market-aligned operating practices, ensuring compliance with The Clearing Corporation of India Limited and The Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India requirements and other applicable local rules.
- Oversee settlement, confirmation, and reconciliation activities, including nostro and wash accounts, with a focus on break prevention, root-cause resolution, and control discipline.
- Manage regulatory reporting, goods and services tax computation, and monitoring of prudential and regulatory limits to meet internal standards and external obligations.
- Lead management of corporate client regulatory documentation and ensure the team stays current on India regulatory changes affecting reporting and operational obligations.
- Drive cross-functional execution with business, finance, compliance, legal, and audit, representing operations clearly and confidently in senior forums.
- Sponsor automation and process improvement initiatives that reduce operational risk, improve throughput, and translate business growth into scalable operating capacity.
- Build, coach, and retain a high-performing team, setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and risk awareness.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in banking operations or closely related roles, with demonstrated team leadership and delivery ownership.
- Strong knowledge of the end-to-end trade lifecycle across foreign exchange, rates derivatives, options, fixed income, and money markets.
- Hands-on experience with The Clearing Corporation of India Limited reporting and settlement processes and a working command of The Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India guidelines - mandatory requirement.
- Demonstrated experience with settlement, confirmation, reconciliation, and exception management, including nostro operations.
- Experience with goods and services tax computation, regulatory reporting, and corporate client regulatory documentation management.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with external clients and internal stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Strong automation mindset and control orientation, with the ability to lead change through disciplined execution.
- Strong people management skills, including coaching, performance management, and succession development.
