Rate: $213,705 - $221,701
Notes: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as the District's senior financial executive and is responsible for the overall financial strategy, stewardship, integrity, and long-term sustainability of the District. The CFO provides leadership for all business and financial operations; ensures fiscal accountability, transparency, and compliance with applicable laws and standards; and serves as the principal financial advisor to the Executive Leadership, the Superintendent, and the Board of Directors.
Primary responsibilities:
- Directs and is accountable for district-wide budget development, including establishing
baseline and comparative data, assessing needs, gathering stakeholder input, analyzing
options, developing scenarios, facilitating discussions, presenting recommendations, and
securing required approvals. - Leads and oversees the District’s financial arrangements, including bond sales, levy
planning, construction financing, debt management, and cash flow planning to ensure
financial resources are available to support District priorities. - Provides executive leadership for the District’s business services division through
subordinate leaders, including budget, accounting, purchasing, and related financial
functions, ensuring efficient, effective, and compliant operations within District, State, and
Federal guidelines. - Oversees district staffing allocations through the budget process; establishes and maintains
effective position control systems in collaboration with Human Resources and other
departments. - Controls budget functions for district, contract oversight, internal controls, and financial
accountability, ensuring sound fiscal management and compliance.

Requirements
- Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, or a related field required, Master's degree preferred. - Seven years of progressively responsible senior-level experience in financial or business leadership within a large, complex organization. Experience with public sector finance, audits, budgeting, debt management, and regulatory compliance is strongly preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Washington K-12 school finance.

Knowledge:
- Current school district accounting and payroll rules and practices
- Federal and state rules and regulations applicable to finance, accounting, and payroll
- State and federal statutory requirements relating to school finance and budgeting
- District policies and regulations relating to business/finance
- Washington education codes and State funding systems
- School K–12 accounting principles and reporting standards (GASB preferred)
- Long-range financial planning, internal controls, and audit processes
- Budget development, enrollment projections, tax levies, bond financing, and capital funding
Skills
- Provide executive-level financial leadership and strategic advice
- Direct enterprise-wide budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Analyze financial risk and develop mitigation strategies
