Overview
AZ Impact for Good is searching for its next Chief Executive Officer. In a time of economic and social disruption and uncertainty, when Arizona nonprofits and grantmakers need connection, champions, and support for new strategies, AZ Impact for Good is ready to lead—and ready for its new leader.
As a statewide association with both nonprofit and grantmaker members, AZ Impact for Good occupies a unique role in building collaborations between service providers and funders, advocating with policymakers, and equipping its members with information, tools, and networking opportunities. The CEO ensures that AZ Impact for Good is indispensable to its members’ missions.
While AZ Impact for Good focuses on Arizona, its CEO also draws on data, advocacy reports, and connections from the organization’s role as the state affiliate of the National Council of Nonprofits and United Philanthropy Forum, national networks for nonprofits and grantmakers.
Mission and Strategy
Founded in 2004, AZ Impact for Good serves some 1,000 member organizations, including nonprofits, grantmakers, government agencies, and partner businesses. Its mission is to unite nonprofits and philanthropy to transform Arizona through education, advocacy, and innovation. Its strategic priorities: build a statewide network of nonprofits and philanthropic funders; amplify their voices; and lead collaboration among them.
Background and Skills
Candidates should bring:
At least 8-10 years of progressive executive experience in the nonprofit, funder, membership-organization, advocacy/policy, and/or related sectors;
Demonstrated accomplishment in organizational leadership, including financial management, membership development, fundraising, program development, policy advocacy, community partnerships, and communications and marketing;
Proven skills in managing organizational transition and change management;
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, advanced degree preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Drives strategies to support the AZ Impact for Good mission, with focus on three priorities: Build and sustain a strong statewide network of members, amplify the voice of the sector, and lead collaboration among nonprofits and funders.
Serves as one of Arizona’s principal public voices of the nonprofit and grantmaker sectors; facilitates collaboration across the nonprofit and funder community—and with business partners, community organizations, and policymakers. Maintains a strong relationship with the National Council of Nonprofits and United Philanthropy Forum.
Leads a staff of 9 (4 direct reports) that: coordinates various affinity groups; monitors public policy and conducts advocacy; plans and facilitates programs and events; and engages in membership development, marketing and communications, and fundraising. Drives performance and builds a culture of employee engagement and service to the community.
Designs and implements a progressive approach to managing talent, including recruiting and selection of candidates to meet the needs of the organization; developing and evaluating staff; ensuring competitive pay and benefits programs.
Designs and implements organizational policies and practices fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace aligned with the organization’s mission.
Builds strong relationships with the Board of Directors and standing committees to track the strategies, operations, and finances of the organization, set strategic directions and policy, and evaluate significant internal and external changes that impact the organization.
Working with the Board, Finance Committee, and external auditor, ensures that financial responsibilities are met according to accepted auditing standards; provides oversight of financial administration, including budgeting, payroll administration, cost accounting, and preparation of comprehensive financial reports and other records.
Ensures that the organization complies with all local, state, and federal regulations and aligns with best practices from the National Council of Nonprofits and United Philanthropy Forum.
Position Logistics
Target hiring salary range: $110-$140K, opportunity for performance bonus, plus a competitive benefits package.
Work location: Phoenix, Arizona. Requires frequent travel within the state.
