Description of responsibilities:
The CAD Technician creates, modifies, and updates technical drawings and models based on the specifications and instructions of engineers for CRW’s infrastructure projects to support the Engineering Department. The position is responsible for planning and design utilizing Computer Aided Design software for CRW’s Capital Improvement Projects consisting of stormwater utilities, water and wastewater linear utilities, and site development projects.
Prepare and revise Capital Improvement Project (CIP) utility plan sets, including civil site plans, grading plans, and utility profiles using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design software
Develop and modify engineering drawings and layouts from sketches, markups, field data, and project requirements while ensuring compliance with organizational and industry drafting standards
Maintain organized digital drawing files, documentation, and version control records
Collaborate with engineers and project teams to support project design, specifications, reporting, and overall project coordination
Review completed work for accuracy, dimensions, and material requirements and assist with related project management tasks
Required experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in CAD drafting, civil design, surveying, construction, or a related field
Experience using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
Experience preparing civil engineering plan sets and technical drawings
Experience supporting infrastructure or utility-related projects preferred
Experience with ArcGIS Pro preferred
Experience with Revit software a plus
Required skills:
Basic knowledge of design and project management principles related to drinking water, wastewater, stormwater infrastructure and street restoration.
Knowledge of construction administration and management principles
Ability to read and interpret survey data, standard specifications and details
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF-XChanger Editor
Required Education:
Associate’s degree in CAD, Surveying, Construction, or related field from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent education
