Position Summary
The Attorney provides comprehensive legal counsel to the Agency’s multifamily mortgage lending business line,
ensuring consistent support for its strategic and operational legal needs. This role advises on complex real estate
transactions and helps safeguard the Agency’s financial and programmatic interests from initial structuring
through closing. This position reports to a Senior Attorney.

MassHousing operates under a hybrid work model; therefore, employees are expected to work on-site
according to a schedule determined in collaboration with their manager and based on the needs of the role. To
support effective onboarding, new employees may be required to work in the office more frequently during
their first 90 days.
Essential Functions
Transactional Legal Work
Draft and review transaction documents for multifamily lending, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and
alignment with Agency objectives and legal requirements
Review loan due diligence materials, identify legal and transactional risks, and recommend strategies to
protect the Agency’s financial and programmatic interests
Advise internal partners on transaction structuring, deal terms, risk mitigation, and program
requirements
Oversee postclosing matters to ensure ongoing compliance with Agency policies, regulatory
requirements, and legal obligations
Collaborate with Legal Department colleagues and crossfunctional teams to support multifamily
closings, recordings, filings, and related transactional activities
Corporate Governance and Contract Support
Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, forms, and policies that support Agency
programs and operations
Review requests for proposals and related documentation to ensure compliance with legal and
regulatory requirements
Ensure governance and contract materials comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws,
regulations, and Agency requirements
Legal Research, Guidance, and Policy Interpretation
Serve as the Legal Department’s liaison for designated areas of law and related legal matters
Conduct legal research, compile information, and prepare reports and analyses to support the General
Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Senior Attorneys
Provide legal guidance on the interpretation and application of Agency policies and procedures
Security
Comply with MassHousing’s Information Security Program and all other Agency information security
policies and procedures
Take responsibility for any Agency assets assigned to you
Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to MassHousing’s Information Security
Team
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- 4+ years of experience with sophisticated real estate or commercial transactions, municipal finance
and/or single-family mortgage regulation or foreclosure matters - Admitted, or eligible for admission, to the Massachusetts bar
- Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with affordable housing financing, including LIHTC, taxexempt bonds, or subsidized
multifamily housing programs - Familiarity with Massachusetts real estate, housing, municipal, or administrative law

Salary Range: $125,545.07 - $163,208.07
