Job Description:
Budget Title: Associate Dean (*MP3/Management Confidential)
Salary: $160,000
The Associate Dean for Graduate Education and External Programs is a high-impact, strategic leadership role responsible for bridging the gap between the School of Management and the graduate global professional community. This individual will spearhead the growth of non-degree executive education, international enrichment programming, and corporate and community partnerships. This includes evolving SOM's stackable education model to create seamless pathways from non-degree certificates to online graduate degree programs. Additionally, the Associate Dean will spearhead the creation of a multimodal leadership assessment in partnership with the Bass Center for Leadership Studies. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader possessing a blend of academic credibility and entrepreneurial flair. This position will participate in the formulation of applicable university policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Graduate Curricula and In-person and Online Degree Programs
- Degree-Related Graduate Education Policy: Act as the School of Management representative on campus-wide committees to shape policies for master's and doctoral programs. This role involves contributing to the development of standards for graduate admissions and program assessment, as well as providing strategic input on tuition, fees, and graduate assistantship frameworks.
- Curricular and Program Innovation: Design, launch, and manage a portfolio of online graduate degree programs.
- Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth through Executive Education and Certificates
- Non-Degree Related Graduate Education Policy: Act as the School of Management representative on campus-wide committees to shape policies for non-degree programs and certificates. This role involves contributing to the development of standards for non-degree program admissions and program assessment, as well as providing strategic input on tuition, fees, and student support frameworks.
- Program Innovation: Design, launch, and manage a portfolio of non-degree programs, including executive education, certificate programs, and bootcamps. Design, launch and manage an advanced leadership assessment in cooperation with the Bass Center for Leadership studies and other research partners as needed.
- Market Expansion: Identify emerging trends in the business world (e.g., AI integration, sustainable finance) to develop market-responsive curriculum.
- Portfolio Diversification: Launch non-credit skills badges that address immediate skills gaps in the workforce while creating a funnel for future degree-seeking students.
- Fiscal Oversight: Manage the budget for external programs, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth.
- Corporate & Community Partnerships
- Strategic Alliances: Build and maintain relationships with Fortune 500 companies, startups, and NGOs to create customized corporate training solutions.
- Advisory Board Management: Liaison with SOM's external advisory boards to align academic output with industry needs.
- Internship & Placement Pipeline: Work alongside SOM Career Services to expand corporate recruiting networks for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Global Partnerships
- International Enrichment Programming: Develop and oversee international co-curricular enrichment programs and short-term immersion programs.
- Brand Advocacy & Outreach
- Alumni Engagement: Collaborate with the Constituent Relations and Marketing and Communications teams to leverage the alumni network for mentorship, guest lecturing, and philanthropic support.

Requirements:
- PhD or DBA in a business-related field
- Prior administrative experience within a business school
- Research skills in the areas of advanced research methods and analytics, and leadership measurement and assessment
- Demonstrated success in project management
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Willingness to travel occasionally
