The Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Business Solutions MO onboarding is an experienced individual contributor within M&G's Business Solutions team, responsible for the delivery of onboarding and transition events and for supporting delivery of higher-complexity OB under the oversight of the Vice President. Operating as a part of wider BS team, the AVP ensures that client and fund onboarding tasks are executed to M&G's standards for control, timeliness and client experience. The role requires good technical knowledge of fund structures, asset classes and IBOR/fund accounting implications, solid project and task management skills, and the ability to coach more junior colleagues and support the VP with process improvements, supplier testing and training activities.
The AVP will deliver and coordinate onboarding and transition activities for client mandates and product changes, supporting the VP in managing more complex engagements, supplier oversight and governance responsibilities. The role contributes to maintaining effective controls, high-quality client outcomes and continuous process improvement across the end-to-end investment value chain.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities (including but not limited to) :
- Deliver the end-to-end execution of all types of onboarding and transition events, and support delivery of higher complexity events where required such as Asset transitions, Liquidations, Account closures, Custody changes, Sleeve launches, Fund Launches, Segregated mandate launches, Fund Mergers etc.
- Act as an operational point for onboarding issues and ensure resolution for the team/internal stakeholders in absence of a VP
- Support supplier oversight activities: participate in supplier meetings, contribute to reconciliations, support production of MI and assist in driving remediation actions for assigned items.
- Contribute to risk and compliance activities by ensuring adherence to onboarding procedures, implementing audit actions for assigned areas and escalating control issues promptly.
- Identify and propose process improvements and small-scale automation opportunities; support testing and implementation of changes (including UAT support) within the team's remit.
- Provide coaching and subject-matter guidance to junior Onboarding Specialists; support training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops organised by the VP or team lead.
- Support the VP in tracking team performance, training needs, and ad-hoc reporting and administration tasks as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory and market developments and ensure work is performed in line with M&G policies and regulatory requirement
- Maintain and update onboarding procedures and documentation
- Quality Control (QC) of onboarding setups: perform QC reviews of fund and client market/setup configurations prepared by the onboarding team prior to handover to operations or suppliers. This includes checking account structure, custody instructions, mandate details, currency and market setups, trade and cash workflows, settlement instructions where applicable.
- Checkpoints for lifecycle and project activities: conduct formal checkpoints and verification for other onboarding events or life-cycle activities managed by Business Analysts or Project Managers to establish operational readiness (ops readiness) for go-live. Record checkpoint outcomes, raise pre-go-live issues and confirm remediation before cutover.
- Post-implementation validation: for assigned events, support early post-go-live monitoring and reconciliation activities to confirm successful operationalisation and identify any residual defects for remediation
- Works closely with the VP - Business Solutions, Onboarding Specialists, Investment teams, Client Service, Custody, Legal, Operations and Technology.
- Liaises with external custodians, administrators and third-party service providers for assigned tasks and escalations
- Stay informed on regulatory product level changes if any (e.g., FCA, AIFMD, EMIR, STFR) and ensure onboarding compliance.
- Implement internal procedures to maintain regulatory standards.
- Align onboarding requirements with investment strategies and product objectives.
- Partner with client service and sales teams to structure fund/client setups in IBOR.
Education and experience Requirements :
- Minimum 8-10 years' total relevant work experience with at least 5 years in client onboarding, fund launches, operational transitions or related investment operations roles.
- Demonstrable experience managing low-to-medium complexity onboarding and transition events; exposure to some higher-complexity projects is advantageous.
- Practical knowledge of global fund structures (UCITS, AIFs, OEICs, SICAVs) and an understanding of their operational implications.
- Good working knowledge of asset classes (public/private equities, fixed income, derivatives ETD/OTC, FX, money markets) and fund accounting/IBOR impacts.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functional teams.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting onboarding (e.g., MiFID II, FATCA, CRS, AIFMD) and ability to apply controls in day-to-day work.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work across diverse cultural environments to support global onboarding initiatives
- Experience working with outsourced service providers and familiarity with supplier governance activities.
- Good analytical, communication and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and strong documentation discipline.
- Proven experience performing QC or validation checks and running operational readiness checkpoints prior to go-live.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with industry platforms such as BRS Aladdin or similar is desirable
- Experience in producing management information and using metrics to drive improvements.
- Experience supporting or conducting UAT, implementation testing or small-scale automation/RPA projects.
- Exposure to ESG considerations in product onboarding.
- Prior experience in a client-facing front-office or market-facing operations role
- Strong domain knowledge of middle office processes, supplier management and outsourced operating models.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capability; experienced in root-cause analysis and mitigating operational risk.
- Proficient at managing own workload and prioritising effectively.
- Clear and concise communicator able to liaise with external suppliers, internal teams (change, compliance, product) and senior stakeholders.
- Coaching and knowledge-transfer skills; comfortable teaching and reviewing work.
- Calm under pressure and able to prioritise between competing operational demands
- Education: Professional degree or a post graduate or equivalent qualification.
- Project management qualification (Prince2, PMP) or equivalent training.
- Industry certifications in fund operations, custody or regulatory compliance.
