We are seeking a full-time Director of Professional Development (Talent Management) in one of our offices to join our Human Resources department. Overview:

Provide strategic leadership for the Firm’s Professional Development (PD) department, including leading the building and execution of professional development efforts.  Position oversees professional development team members providing support for associate, staff attorney, paralegal, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and implement the PD department’s strategic vision and goals.  Lead and manage the overall activities within PD;
  • Analyze and anticipate organizational and program needs; evaluate feedback to identify program gaps and opportunities;
  • Design, maintain, oversee, and evaluate an annual PD program initiative and budget;
  • Develop and implement curriculum and materials to promote and enhance advanced practice-specific and general learning and development.  Facilitate trainings, design workshops, and outsource to external trainers (including developing RFPs and negotiating rates) as appropriate.
  • Establish criteria to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of all PD efforts.  Track and report on metrics.

Requirements

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or JD preferred;
  • 10+ years’ experience in professional development, learning and development, organizational development, or combined education and experience of progressively more responsibility;
  • 5+ years’ experience working in professional services, preferably in a law firm;
  • Previous supervisory experience with the ability to establish, lead, engage, and retain a high-functioning team in alignment with the Firm’s culture;
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively develop and maintain cooperative working relationships and communicate with members of the Firm, clients, and other outside contacts;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing projects and responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
