Description
Haskell Memorial Hospital is seeking a full-time physical therapist for outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation (swing bed) services.
Under the Direction of the Chief Medical Officer, the Physical Therapist is responsible for the complete physical therapy care including evaluation, program planning and implementation, re-evaluations and discharge planning for inpatient and outpatient patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
Work requires the level of knowledge normally acquired by completing an accredited program in physical therapy.
Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of Texas.
Ability to assume responsibility for professional performance.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions and to have and exhibit the ability to relay information in writing.
Good general physical and mental health and exhibit strength, stamina, Coordination, and ability for safe and appropriate patient handling.
Analytical ability is required to gather data from patient's evaluation to recommend solutions to treatment- related problems.
Ability to promote the physical therapy department to healthcare providers, our community, our patients and their families.
Familiarity with Medicare is preferred
JOB DUTIES
The physical therapist will develop a physical therapy treatment program for referred patients of both the outpatient and inpatient departments.
For both inpatient and outpatient treatment, gather information from the patient's referral, other personnel, patient, and utilize physical therapy evaluations to identify patient's problems, deficits and impairments.
Establish appropriate physical therapy goals based on evaluation results and develop a comprehensive treatment plan; re-evaluate patient and modify program ongoing.
Confer with nursing staff and healthcare providers to ensure that inpatient treatment needs/requirements are met.
Implement a physical therapy treatment program for each patient utilizing various treatment modalities and approaches.
Serve as preceptor for physical therapy students.
Ensure that the work area is equipped with the necessary supplies, equipment, etc., prior to each treatment session; assist in maintaining a safe, orderly work environment.
Provide patient with necessary equipment, education and or instruction prior to the patient's discharge.
Occasionally participate in community events, outreach efforts to promote the department.
