Position Summary:
The Department of Government, Law & Policy at Arkansas State University, a Carnegie-classified R2 research university, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor in public administration, beginning in Fall 2027.
The search is open with respect to area of specialization within public administration and public policy, and comparative perspectives are welcome. We seek a colleague with an active, publishable research agenda who will contribute to the department's growing research profile and to its NASPAA-accredited MPA program, where the primary teaching responsibility will lie. Because our curricular needs in the MPA program span the field, we are especially interested in candidates prepared to teach across more than one area, including some combination of public management, leadership, grant writing, and human resources management. The successful candidate will also occasionally contribute to the department's undergraduate offerings in political science. The teaching load is consistent with the department's research expectations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The teaching load of the faculty is in alignment with a Carnegie-classified R2 research institution. Faculty workload includes research, service, and professional development in the best interest of the students and community at large.
Faculty members deliver instruction, carry out research, perform service for their respective professions and community, and participate in the management of the University through shared governance. Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession. The faculty has a responsibility to set degree requirements, assess when they are met, and establish and maintain curricula that meet professional standards and fulfill the educational goals of the University.

Arkansas State University is a comprehensive public research university located approximately 70 miles northwest of Memphis, TN. The department offers a well-rounded curriculum to its more than 120 majors. The department also offers two graduate programs-an MA in Political Science and a NASPAA-accredited MPA program, the latter with an enrollment of more than 230 students.

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in public administration, public policy, political science, or a cognate field. ABD candidates will be considered, but the doctorate must be completed by the start date of the appointment.
