Description
Oakland Township is looking for a friendly, detail-oriented professional to support our Treasury Department on a casual basis, meaning a couple days per week, with additional hours during the department’s busy seasons. This position focuses on helping residents at the treasury counter, primarily by collecting and recording property tax payments. Accuracy and attention to detail are very important in this role to ensure all payments are properly handled. A good understanding of accounting basics, general ledger functions, and some experience with accounting software is helpful. The ideal candidate is reliable, careful with numbers, and committed to excellent service enjoys working with people, communicates clearly, and brings a positive, respectful attitude to every interaction with the community.
Responsibilities
Answers Treasury and main office telephone calls.
Answers resident questions and handles transactions other than tax payments at the counter as needed. Covers other departments as needed.
Collect tax payments at the counter and entering accompanying cash receipts accurately.
Balancing entries daily to ensure totals match deposited amounts.
Printing Tax Bills for residents.
Issuing Dog Licenses.
Assisting with Collection Resident Tax Forms PRE, PTA, Disabled Vet, Deferments.
Other tasks or assignments as requested.
Requirements
1-3 years experience in treasury operations, banking, or municipal finance or related field.
Excellent computer skills required.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Maintain composure and professionalism in all situations.
Work collaboratively with internal departments and team members to ensure seamless service.
