Description
Position Title: Sr Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst/Adviser
Location: Des Moines, IA, United States
Description:
This position supports enterprise-wide financial systems and processes used across Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE). This role plays a key advisory and leadership function in the design, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of financial reporting and accounting systems, while serving as a critical liaison between Finance, Accounting, Financial Planning, and Information Technology teams.
This position supports core finance processes including monthly close, general accounting, project management, financial reporting, and governance, risk, and compliance. This position also contributes to system enhancements and upgrades that impact BHE companies across U.S. and international operations.
Responsibilities:
Participate on a team that manages and maintains BHE-wide financial and accounting systems supporting monthly close, data governance, and financial reporting processes.
Actively evaluate and refine technology solutions and reporting processes to drive consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement across BHE subsidiaries.
Lead and support the development, management, and ongoing maintenance of financial reports within accounting and finance systems.
Provide system and data support to regulated business units, including assistance with federal and state regulatory filings and data requests.
Solicit and incorporate enduser feedback to identify system corrections, enhancements, and opportunities for improved usability and accuracy.
Participate in financial accounting and reporting system projects, including enhancements and upgrades.
Maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, and technology vendors.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and progressive work experience).
- Three or more years of relevant technical experience supporting financial or accounting business processes for the Sr Financial Planning and Accounting Analyst position.
- Four or more years of relevant technical experience supporting financial or accounting business processes, including at least two years in a senior or lead role for the Financial and Accounting Systems Adviser position.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to understand and manage change impacts in complex environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes in a corporate or regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion Financials (e.g., General Ledger, Projects, or related modules).
- Experience with Oracle EPM Planning, including planning, forecasting, scenario modeling, or management reporting.
- Experience supporting enterprise financial systems in a regulated utility or highly regulated industry.
- Involvement in system implementations, upgrades, or major finance transformation initiatives.
