Position Overview:
TSI Inc. Is seeking a Senior Technologist with extensive experience in bridge engineering to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality technical drawings, collaborating with engineers, providing mentorship and support to junior drafters, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. This role requires strong proficiency in CAD software and a deep understanding of bridge and culvert design and detailing, especially details used in Ontario
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce detailed drawings, plans, and layouts for bridge and transportation structures.
- Collaborate closely with engineers to interpret design specifications and requirements.
- Ensure all drawings adhere to relevant codes, standards, and project guidelines.
- Review and revise drawings as necessary based on feedback from engineers and project managers.
- Maintain organized documentation and version control of drawings.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural, geotechnical, and environmental aspects into bridge designs.
- Assist in preparing quantity take-offs and material lists.
- Conduct thorough field inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
- Mentor junior drafters and provide guidance on drafting best practices.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering and/or a college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related program
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a Bridge Engineering or Structural engineering related CAD role for replacement and rehabilitation projects.
- Familiar with details of bridges, culverts, and retaining walls in Ontario
- Proficient in using design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation. Utilizes AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation to prepare difficult and complex layouts and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge
- Experience with MTO Manual details such as Structural Manual is an asset.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible hours to meet strict deadlines
- Able to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Possess strong organizational, technical, time management, leadership, communication, and multi-tasking skills
- Highly motivated with a results-oriented focus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Salary range:
$85,000 to $100,000 per year commensurate with experience
