Job Description
Role Overview
As a Senior Project Managerspecializing in Data Centre projects, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex, mission-critical facilities with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and compliance. You will oversee multiple project teams, manage high-value budgets, and ensure alignment with client objectives, technical standards, and regulatory requirements. This role demands deep expertise in data centre design and construction, stakeholder management, and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide strategic leadership to project teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations.
- Mentor and develop project managers and junior staff, fostering technical excellence and collaborative culture.
- Drive resource planning and team performance to meet project milestones and KPIs.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients on data centre projects, ensuring clear communication and trust.
- Lead high-level stakeholder meetings, presenting progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Build strong relationships with hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise clients, understanding their operational priorities.
- Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings and reporting to maintain transparency and progress visibility.
- Build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders through consistent follow-up and responsiveness.
Project Planning & Execution
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of data centre projects, ensuring compliance with Uptime Institute Tier standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and local regulations.
- Manage master programme and critical path activities, including procurement of long-lead items (e.g., generators, UPS systems, cooling equipment).
- Implement robust commissioning plans to validate mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure performance.
Technical & Risk Management
- Ensure redundancy, resilience, and energy efficiency targets are met across all MEP systems.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to power, cooling, and network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with design consultants to optimize layouts for scalability and operational efficiency.
Site Coordination
- Oversee site operations with strict adherence to safety, security, and environmental standards.
- Monitor progress through advanced reporting tools and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
Procurement & Commercial Management
- Lead procurement strategies for specialized equipment and services, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance.
- Negotiate high-value contracts and manage vendor performance against SLAs
- Manage the full procurement process for consultants, including drafting scopes, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts.
Project Reporting
- Deliver comprehensive reports highlighting key metrics, risks, and financial performance.
- Utilize tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Power BI for schedule and dashboard reporting.
KPIs
- Successful delivery of data centre projects within agreed timelines, budgets, and Tier compliance.
- Client satisfaction reflected in repeat business and Net Promoter Score.
- Zero critical downtime incidents during commissioning and handover.
- 100% compliance with internal governance and financial controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, MEP Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing discipline-specific scopes within large-scale or multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong technical understanding of engineering principles, construction methodologies, and compliance requirements.
- Effective leadership and stakeholder management skills within a collaborative project environment.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, BIM) and financial tracking systems.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE, Chartered Engineer) are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Korean.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and maintain effective working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
