Hiring for an in-person role in San Antonio, Texas only, with potential for hybrid schedule after 90 days.
What you'll get to do:
Help grow the Farm Bureau Mortgage division.
Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, credit reports, income, assets, and property appraisals.
Ensure loans meet company, investor, FHA, VA, and other agency guidelines.
Determine creditworthiness and risk level of applicants.
Identify potential fraud or compliance issues and escalate as needed.
Approve, suspend, or decline loans based on underwriting standards.
Communicate decisions and conditions clearly to loan officers and processors.
Maintain adherence to federal and state regulations, including TRID and HMDA.
Respond to audits and quality control reviews promptly.
Mentor junior underwriters and assist with training.
Work closely with processing, closing, and sales teams to resolve complex scenarios.
Utilize Loan Origination Systems for accurate documentation.
Prepare reports for management as required.
Maintain a tickler system.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Direct Endorsement required.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years Mortgage Loan Underwriting experience with mortgage products, including conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
Leadership experience a plus.
