Description

The Senior Analyst plays a key role in driving the firm’s investment decision-making via market research, financial modeling, and relationship management. Job duties are expected to be split roughly 40% management of public investments, 35% family office investment services, and 25% other projects, including tasks which will not be defined in advance.

Management of Public Investments:

• Investment & Strategy Research
  
  • Perform manager/strategy due diligence, including providing buy/sell recommendations to the investment committee
  • Identify and research value dislocations, cyclical trends, and secular themes
  • Screen investment options and identify superior securities for strategy implementation
  • Perform individual company-level due diligence and financial statement analysis
• Investment Committee
  • Lead weekly investment committee meetings, including setting the agenda, presenting supporting analysis and research, and implementing and tracking meeting outcomes
• Monitoring & Reporting
  • Monitor portfolios and prepare monthly performance reports
  • Create ad-hoc reports including portfolio analytics (segmenting holdings by asset class, sector, style, market cap and geographic exposure), tax exposure, asset allocation, etc.
  • Coordinate and participate in regular reviews with third-party managers
• Investment Administration
  • Manage accounts and portfolios within Black Diamond software
  • Establish and maintain accounts and relationships with new and existing service providers, including investment managers and custodians
• Knowledge of Economy & Financial Markets
  • Read extensively from list of economists and top money managers
  • Identify macro risks and opportunities

Family Office Services:

• Relationship Management
  • Interface with family office clients (Gen 2 and Gen 3), estate planning attorneys, accountants and other service providers
• Account Management
  • Establish Investment Policy Statements (IPS) with each client, including determining asset allocation and future cash needs
  • Trade portfolios in alignment with the IPS
  • Disburse funds to meet client requests
  • Manage account documentation

Other Projects:

• Work closely with legal counsel to maintain annual corporate hygiene (filings with federal, state and local authorities, board minutes and consents, etc.)
• Build detailed financial models and forecasts to support internal decision-making, including on direct private investments and real estate
• Assist with management of real estate investments
• Assist Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer with a variety of ad-hoc projects
   

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related discipline
• Preference for CFA Charterholder, Level 2 or 3 CFA candidate, or CPA with hands-on investment experience
• 3+ years of experience in portfolio management, investment advisory or financial analysis
• Strong Excel modeling abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to condense complexities into succinct reports
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with Black Diamond portfolio management software preferred; Bloomberg Terminal, and Morningstar experience a plus
• Ability to work independently, manage time commitments and prioritize tasks
