Job Description: Product Manager StorNext Storage Platform
Overview
Quantum is seeking an experienced Product Manager to drive strategy, roadmap development, and lifecycle ownership for the StorNext product family. StorNext is Quantum's industry-leading parallel file system used in demanding media, HPC, and scientific environments. It's next generation under construction will be Quantum's next-generation, all-flash, multi-protocol storage platform optimized for AI/ML pipelines and high-performance data workflows
In this role, you will define product vision, gather and prioritize customer requirements, and partner closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Support, and executive leadership to expand the reach and success of both product lines across enterprise, media, HPC, and AI markets.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Own the combined strategic direction for StorNext across performance, scalability, workflow integration, and AI/HPC/media pipeline requirements.
- Identify market opportunities in AI/ML workloads, high-throughput video workflows, scientific data management, edge-to-core pipelines, and cloud-enabled architectures.
- Track competitive offerings in scale-out NAS, all-flash performance storage, distributed file systems, and parallel I/O platforms.
Roadmap Leadership
- Develop and maintain product roadmaps for StorNext, balancing customer requirements, competitive pressures, and technical feasibility.
- Define feature priorities, working collaboratively with Engineering leadership to scope releases and set milestones.
- Ensure alignment across hardware, software, management tools, and cloud integration initiatives.
Requirements & Product Design
- Translate customer feedback, workflow analysis, and ecosystem needs into detailed requirements and user stories.
- Define specifications for metadata service scaling, parallel I/O enhancements, cloud connectors, workflow automation, Windows/macOS client improvements, NVMe performance features, multi-protocol support, AI/ML integration, object or cloud tiering, QoS, telemetry, high-availability enhancements and media pipeline optimizations.
- Collaborate with UX, architecture, QA, and engineering teams to design intuitive management experiences and integration workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the product focal point between Engineering, Sales, Support, Marketing, Operations, and the executive team.
- Work closely with Support and L3 Engineering to identify systemic issues, set reliability goals, and improve long-term product quality.
- Partner with Sales Engineering to create reference architectures, performance guidance, competitive positioning, and workflow solutions.
Customer & Ecosystem Engagement
- Engage directly with customers in media & entertainment, HPC, research, government, AI/ML, and enterprise IT to validate priorities and gather deep workflow insights.
- Present product roadmap updates, deliver technical briefings, and oversee strategic customer evaluations.
- Foster relationships with ecosystem partners including video production vendors, AI pipeline tools, data movers, and cloud workflow platforms.
Go-to-Market & Launch Management
- Work with Marketing to develop messaging, competitive analysis, content strategy, and product launch materials.
- Support Sales with training, positioning guides, and technical collateral.
- Drive successful product introductions across hardware models, software releases, and ecosystem integrations.
Product Lifecycle Ownership
- Manage the lifecycle of StorNext from concept through GA, ongoing maintenance, refresh cycles, and EOL planning.
- Contribute to pricing strategy, licensing models, hardware platform planning, and long-term capacity/cost projections.
- Use deployment data, telemetry, and customer insights to inform ongoing improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 510+ years of product management experience in enterprise storage, HPC storage, file systems, or performance-oriented infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of:
- Scale-out NAS, parallel file systems, or high-performance storage
- NVMe storage, flash architectures, and multi-protocol access
- HPC/data-intensive workflows and AI/ML data pipelines
- Media & entertainment, video production, and multi-stream I/O workflows
- Ability to build requirements from complex technical use cases and customer workflows.
- Proven success working cross-functionally with engineering, support, and go-to-market teams.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and executive presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of Myriad, StorNext, or competitive technologies (GPFS/Spectrum Scale, Lustre, Isilon/PowerScale, NetApp, Weka, VAST, Qumulo).
- Experience with cloud integration, hybrid workflows, or data orchestration platforms.
- Technical background in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and AI model training pipelines.
- Certifications in product management, storage, cloud, or HPC.

- Strong strategic thinker with the ability to simplify complex technical requirements into clear priorities.
- Customer-centric, collaborative, and comfortable working with both technical and business audiences.
- Able to lead through influence and coordinate across multiple high-impact product areas.

Anticipated Salary Range: $130,000 to $160,000 for qualified applicants.
The above pay range represents Quantum's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Pay within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, knowledge/education, skills/abilities, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
