Description
Oregon State University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital has an opportunity available in our Small Animal Hospital for a Surgery Patient Services Coordinator (PSC). The Surgery PSC is responsible for supervision of patient care staff (surgery CVTs, vet assistants and student workers), service coordination and providing advanced nursing care for orthopedic and soft tissue surgical patients.
The ideal candidate will have:
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Excellent professional judgement, time management and critical thinking skills
Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and the ability to engage with and actively advance a diverse team
The capacity to collaborate with other supervisors to provide leadership and support hospital-wide
Flexibility and adaptability to manage challenging situations in a high-volume environment
Advanced technical skills and a passion for providing optimal, compassionate nursing care
A willingness to impart knowledge and wisdom to the next generation of veterinarians
Current certification as a veterinary technician and the ability to obtain Oregon certification within six months of hire
Familiarity with advanced surgical procedures (minimum of three years’ experience in small animal surgery as a licensed technician (VTS in Surgery preferred)
