Wespath, recognized as a 2017-2025 Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and a 2018-2025 National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®, has an opportunity for a Marketing Manager – Content and Thought Leadership that leads the development and execution of Wespath’s investment content strategy, including high-quality investment, financial markets, economic, sustainability, and impact-focused content that strengthens Wespath’s brand and drives investor engagement. This individual translates complex investment and economic concepts into clear narratives, data-driven insights, and compelling visual stories designed for institutional audiences.
They collaborate closely with Institutional Investment Services (IIS) team, the Investment Management team, the Sustainable Investment Strategies team, and the Marketing & Communications team to craft a cohesive investment voice for Wespath. They are constantly scanning markets, researching emerging themes, and identifying opportunities for timely commentary—driven by a natural curiosity about how evolving economic and market dynamics shape investment outcomes and ultimately impact Wespath stakeholders. This includes market commentary, quarterly insights, fund narratives, thematic blogs, white papers and multimedia scripts.
The Marketing Manager, Content & Thought Leadership, is highly organized, detailoriented, and able to manage multiple simultaneous workstreams. They work independently in a fastpaced environment while fostering productive partnerships across the organization.
More specifically, as a Marketing Manager – Content and Thought Leadership you will have the following key responsibilities:
- Develop and lead Wespath’s institutional content strategy, including short- and long-term planning, organization-wide thought leadership direction, and content framework. Maintain and refine Wespath’s investment voice and narrative by partnering with the Investment Management team on insights and fund performance, and with the Institutional Investment Services team on emerging trends, themes and developments shaping institutional investor priorities.
- Edit and ghostwrite content for investment leadership, maintaining clarity, tone, accuracy, and individual leadership and organizational brand alignment.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Investment Management and Institutional Investment Services teams—monitoring markets, asset class themes, sustainability trends, and portfolio positioning; generating insightdriven ideas; and translating these perspectives into highquality content including market commentary, fund updates, thematic blogs, quarterly narratives, investor insights, and white papers. Develop insightdriven content that connects investment perspectives to Wespath’s investment philosophy, process, product development and performance results.
- Translate complex investment, economic, sustainability, and impact concepts into clear, compelling narratives—partnering with the multimedia team and others to deliver integrated visuals, scripts, and multimedia content.
- Raise financial and investment awareness among all stakeholders—including retirement-plan participants, plan sponsors/employers, and institutional clients—through proactive research, timely commentary, and forwardlooking ideas that elevate Wespath’s brand. Collaborate with the benefits communicators to ensure investmentrelated benefit topics are clear, aligned, and integrated into retirement-plan participant and plansponsorfacing materials.
- Partner with Communications team counterparts to incorporate the content strategy into the broader marketing strategy (digital strategy, web strategy, social media strategy). Devise measures of success for content and reporting cadence to investment and marketing leadership.
- Stay current with competitor thought leadership and broader industry commentary, regularly circulating relevant commentary to inform internal stakeholders.
- Support preparation of materials for investor meetings and events while managing editorial calendars aligned with organizational priorities.
Marketing Manager – Content and Thought Leadership Benefits and Compensation:

- The compensation range for this position is $108,000 - $120,000 with a bonus opportunity and customary benefits. Final compensation will be set based on the hired applicant’s qualifications (education, training, and/or experience related to this role), and as such, may fall outside the range shown.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, economics, finance, or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in investment writing, financial communications, economic commentary, or institutional marketing.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex investment and economic concepts into accessible, compelling content.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a portfolio demonstrating clarity, narrative strength, and subjectmatter acumen.
- Strong knowledge of institutional investment concepts, capital markets, investment performance, sustainability and impact investing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel; comfort working with data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within an institutional asset management, investment consulting, or similar environment.
- Knowledge of data visualization concepts and experience with creative/design workflows.
- Experience developing integrated marketing and communications from concept to production, including writing for digital/print, web, and social media to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
