Definition
This is a full-time position in the City’s Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development (HR/OD). An individual in this position will provide administrative and technical support to the HR/OD Department. Reporting relationship: Human Resources Manager.
Examples of Work
- Serves as team leader which may include training, assisting with major programs and projects; tracks and monitors progress and completion times.
- Performs first-level reviews of projects and assists with data gathering and surveys.
- Prepares and submits reports to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EEO-4, New Hire and Termination report.
- Performs the more complex employee personnel changes/requests and other relevant information/changes into the computer system for payroll processing
Provides a variety of specialized and more complex tasks to include recruitment & selection, classification administration, benefits, risk management, safety, wellness and employee services & programs. - Provides technical and administrative support for various HR functions, including researching programs, processing requests, managing documentation, updating systems, and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in HR operations.
- Handles onboarding and off boarding employees to include scheduling hiring screenings, disseminating new hire paperwork, conducting exit interviews, explaining coverage options upon separation, managing COBRA enrollment and deactivating applicable City portals.
- Conducts new hire orientation, including scheduling, preparing packets, reserving space, explaining benefits and policies, entering data, and conducting follow-up
- Coordinates & organizes employee meetings, programs, and events which may including coordinating meeting space, materials, and working with internal and external customers to provide services;
- Responds to customer concerns and requests in a timely manner and prepares written correspondence;
- Maintains records/files for Human Resources department in accordance with records management as well as accreditation purposes;
- Collects and responds to salary and benefits surveys; match survey data and prepare a comprehensive report of results;
- Supports the open enrollment and audit/review processes for the city, including assisting with input changes to the system and carrier portals.
- Assists with worker’s compensation claims; review and completes accident reports, secure information from supervisors on work related accidents for worker’s compensation; follow up with providers to ensure payment and maintenance of work-related injury records;
- Supports department and city recruitment by assisting with systems, reviewing interview questions, attending interviews, and other related tasks as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned;
- Subject to 24-hour recall.
Education, Experience, or Certification
An associate’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience, or a bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
