Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and experienced Finance Director to lead the fundraising strategy and execution for a competitive Democratic Congressional primary campaign in the Chicago suburbs. This is a senior-level position responsible for building and executing a comprehensive financial plan to ensure the campaign has the resources necessary to win. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy self-starter with a proven track record in political fundraising, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to Democratic values.

Key Responsibilities
The Finance Director will manage all aspects of the campaign's fundraising operation, including but not limited to:
Strategy & Planning
- Create and manage the comprehensive financial plan for the campaign, setting clear goals for fundraising, compliance cycles and major events.
- Share daily and weekly call time and fundraising reports with the Campaign Manager and candidate to track progress against goals and identify areas for immediate action.
Fundraising Execution & Management
- Plan and organize all fundraising events, from small donor gatherings to large-scale receptions. This includes identifying hosts, managing the invitation process, and ensuring timely follow-ups to maximize attendance and contributions.
- Manage staff call time sessions, ensuring the candidate is prepared, focused, and executing on a daily call list.
- Oversee the digital fundraising program in coordination with the digital consultant, focusing on email, social media, and online advertising efforts to maximize small-dollar donations.
Teamwork & General Expectations
- Join regularly scheduled team calls (e.g., consultant check-ins and weekly strategy sessions) to provide finance updates and coordinate fundraising efforts with communications, field, and management staff.
- Maintain meticulous records of all pledges and contributions, working closely with the campaign compliance team to ensure strict adherence to FEC regulations.
- Manage other tasks as needed to support the overall success of the campaign.
Qualifications and General Expectations
- Minimum of 2-3 cycles of campaign or non-profit fundraising experience, with preference given to those with experience in Congressional races.
- Deep understanding of the political landscape in the Northwest and Western Chicago suburbs. A familiarity with local and national Democratic donor networks is a significant plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail are mandatory.
- Proficiency with fundraising databases (e.g., NGP VAN), Numero and Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive fundraising goals under pressure.
- Must be able to work flexible and long hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by a fast-paced campaign environment.
