JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Design Engineer II - Mixing Valves, you will lead projects from idea to implementation, applying your technical knowledge to develop new products in the Wilkins Mixing Valve product portfolio. This role provides a balance of hands-on engineering, CAD utilization, project coordination, and process proficiency.
- Use 2D and 3D CAD software to design mechanical components and systems for NPD initiatives related to the mixing valve product portfolio.
- Lead and contribute to all aspects of product development, including ideation, prototyping, design verification, and production validation.
- Drive innovative idea generation by obtaining real-world exposure to product installations through job site and customer visits, and incorporate ideas into new product designs.
- Evaluate customer feedback, customer requirements, existing product designs, and performance standards to support the development of new products.
- Perform root cause analysis and apply design of experiments (DOEs) to resolve product issues and drive continuous improvement in quality and performance.
- Collaborate with engineers and lab technicians to develop and execute in-house validation tests and field test programs.
- Obtain third party product listings and certifications for new mixing valve related products.
- Collaborate with the drafting/design team to properly document all new designs within the document control system, including 2D drawings, 3D models, bills of materials, and technical literature.
- Promote a safe and organized work environment by following company procedures and contributing to process improvements and operational excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
- 5+ years of relevant experience incorporating thermodynamic and heat transfer principles into mechanical product designs, preferred
- Experience with electromechanical product design, desired Experience with pressure vessel design, desired
- Experience with engineered materials, desired
- Use FEA and CFD software to perform stress, hydraulic, and heat transfer simulations of new product designs
- Use 3D printers and other manufacturing methods to create testable prototypes of new product designs
- Provide support to Operations, Quality Control, Customer Care, Marketing, and Product Management as required, particularly before and after new product launches
- Create capital expenditure requests (CERs) for new product tooling. CERs to be reviewed and approved by the Director of Engineering prior to submission to Finance.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives, including safety trainings and annual inventory counts.

Salary Range: The compensation range(s) identified below are a good faith estimate of the salary expected to be paid as performed from these locations. Actual salaries may vary based on a variety of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, education and training, and other relevant business and organizational factors. Most candidates will start in the lower half of the range.
