Description
Embark on your journey as a Prime Broker Margin Vice President where you will be part of the management team that leads the day-to-day Prime Broker Margin Operations team. Your role will be crucial in ensuring rigorous firm and regulatory compliance while delivering first-class client service. Team is accountable for margin call monitoring, collateral movement approvals, and maintenance of client margin/equity levels.As a Client Service Lead you will be part of the management team that leads the day-to-day Prime Broker Margin Operations team ensuring rigorous firm and regulatory compliance while delivering first-class client service. You will be accountable for margin call monitoring, collateral movement approvals, and maintenance of client margin/equity levels. You will partner closely with Client Service Representatives, Risk, Operations, Technology, and Compliance to protect the firm, support hedge fund clients, and drive continuous improvement.
Job responsibilities
- Understand traditional securities products and the end-to-end trade lifecycle to assess margin impact across the workflow.
- Monitor firm and regulatory risk across prime brokerage accounts; enforce Reg T, Portfolio Margin, and FINRA Rule 4210 requirements and house policies.
- Maintain and monitor equity levels on margin loans; issue, track, and resolve margin calls with urgency and precision.
- Review and approve daily collateral movements (withdrawals, substitutions, transfers), ensuring adherence to eligibility rules, limits, and documentation standards.
- Own daily exception management: review reports, investigate root causes, determine the right course of action, and document resolutions within SLAs.
- Execute departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and control activities flawlessly; ensure audit-ready documentation.
- Escalate risk events in line with firm protocols; contribute to remediation plans and durable control enhancements.
- Manage day-to-day activities of team members; set priorities, allocate work, and ensure coverage.
- Coach for performance and development; deliver timely, constructive feedback and promote a strong risk-and-control culture.
- Provide high-quality, responsive support to Client Service Representatives serving hedge fund clients; resolve inquiries and complex margin scenarios with accuracy and professionalism.
- Build effective working relationships with internal partners (Risk, Operations, Tech, Compliance, Legal) and external clients of J.P. Morgan Securities LLC.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 5 years of financial services or client service experience, ideally within broker/dealer operations or prime brokerage/margin.
- Deep understanding of the securities industry, products, and operational functions
- Demonstrated problem-solving and sound decision-making skills under time pressure, with strong attention to detail and control mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey complex topics clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivots, lookups); broader MS Office competency
- Series 99 required, you must acquire the Series 99 certification within the first 120 days
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related discipline preferred.
- Working knowledge of Reg T, Portfolio Margin, and FINRA Rule 4210 preferred
