Associate Attorney – Maine Satellite Office

License Required: Active Maine Bar License
About the Role:
The Jacobs Law, LLC is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney licensed in Maine to support the establishment and growth of a small satellite office. The selected candidate will work closely with and be mentored by experienced attorneys, but must also be comfortable working independently, managing multiple matters simultaneously, and operating efficiently in a dynamic environment.
This role will involve representing clients in Penobscot County state courts and potentially federal courts, drafting legal documents, advising businesses on transactions, contracts, licensing, permitting, and performing work comparable to in-house counsel for small and mid-sized companies. The candidate must reside in or near Penobscot County to accommodate in-person requirements of the role.

Responsibilities:
Represent clients in state and federal courts and before government agencies
Prepare, draft, and review legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, motions, and discovery
Advise clients on business transactions, licensing, permitting, and corporate governance
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda
Draft and respond to discovery requests
Conduct and defend depositions
Negotiate settlements and participate in dispute resolution processes
Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal legal standards
Maintain active licensure and continuing legal education requirements
Engage in client development and relationship-building activities
Perform administrative and management duties related to legal practice
Qualifications:
Active Maine Bar License (required)
Must reside in or near Penobscot County
New attorneys are encouraged to apply
Strong writing skills, issue-spotting ability, and interpersonal communication are highly valued
Familiarity with commercial contracts, business entities, and corporate/LLC governance
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to present oral arguments clearly, confidently, and professionally
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and work independently
