Company Overview
Blackstone Europe Fund Management S.à r.l. (BEFM) is a private limited liability company (société à responsibilité limitée) notably subject to the Law of 10 August 1915 on commercial companies, as amended from time to time and to the AIFM Law. BEFM is authorized by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) as (i) a management company under Article 101(2) (Chapter 15) of the Law of 17 December 2010 on undertakings for collective investment, as amended (the UCI Law) and (ii) an alternative investment fund manager in accordance with the Law of 12 July 2013 on alternative investment fund managers, as amended (the AIFM Law).
BEFM manages UCITS and alternative investment funds (AIFs) in a variety of asset classes including private equity, real estate, credit and hedge fund solutions. BEFM is also authorized to manage separately managed accounts (SMAs) with a combination of these asset classes.
Job Description
We are currently looking to hire an Assistant Vice-President for the BEFM Valuation team (BEFM Valuation), which is primarily responsible for the review of the valuation of investments of the funds under BEFM management.
Responsibilities
The role will be a key part of the International Finance team in Luxembourg and will report to the Luxembourg head of Valuation team. Working closely with the other Finance teams globally, he/she will be accountable for delivering comprehensive and precise reports to governance bodies and will oversee the execution of the valuation process in relation to various fund strategies.
Investments valuation review
- Reviewing the investment committee memos and calibrations
- Reviewing the internal valuation materials and the third-party valuation reports
- Reviewing investment valuation analysis at fund level and documenting the review
- Ensuring investments portfolio is reconciled with NAV
- Completing due diligence on Blackstone valuation teams
- Ensuring the database is updated with the relevant information resulting from the valuation reviews
Governance and reporting to senior management
- Valuation framework, policies and procedures: Leading in maintaining and enhancing an effective framework, including strategic updating and reviewing policies and procedures, to align with the latest regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Participating to the new fund onboardings in the context of valuation matters
- Responsible for the preparation of materials and reports for key stakeholders such as Management Committee and Boards
- Other ad-hoc projects and general administrative tasks
Team management
- Transformation and digitalization: Proposing and driving improvements of the valuation processes, enhancement of procedures and processes as well as the use of offshore resources and technology
- Manage responsibilities and tasks assigned to the offshore consultants
- Provide individualized coaching and support to team members (analysts/associates) to enhance their performance and professional development. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team, encouraging self-reflection and growth. Monitor team performance, track progress towards goals, and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
Qualifications & Skills
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team, are highly motivated, with a sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
- Master's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar discipline (CFA or CAIA is a plus)
- +7 years of relevant financial services industry experience (including a prior experience in a Big 4) with good understanding of alternative industry operations
- Demonstrated expertise in valuation methodologies and practices, combined with strong leadership skills to effectively support the management and organization of the team in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional organizational and documentation abilities, with a proven capacity to structure workflows, maintain accurate records, and ensure high-quality deliverables across all valuation projects
- Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements in relation to AIFM and Luxembourg Funds
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint required, strong appetite to use of technology
- Analytical skills, intellectual curiosity and attention to detail
- Team player with resourceful mindset and efficiency-driven
- Hands-on professional comfortable operating in a small, dynamic team
- Fluent in English, both written and oral
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work on own initiative and manage competing priorities to tight reporting deadlines
- Highly organized, great attention to details and accountability for delivery.
- Proactive and able to suggest new efficient solutions.
