Assistant Finance Director
Bethlehem Township
Bethlehem Township is seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Finance Director to join our administrative team. This position involves professional accounting, administrative, and supervisory responsibilities within a busy municipal government office. The ideal candidate will ensure all township financial activities are performed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and sound fiscal practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operations within accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, cash receipts, and payroll processing.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, manage cash flow, and maintain accurate records for multiple township funds.
- Develop monthly and year-end financial statements, conduct financial analyses, and assist with audit preparation.
- Provide leadership and direction to finance staff to maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage the grants process, including planning, budgeting, writing, submission, and tracking.
- Use Microsoft Excel extensively for data analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Proven accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and public sector financial operations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial management systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a sharp eye for improving processes and operational efficiency.
