We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer, NASA CART to join the team with JETS II.
The Systems Engineer supports the CART initiative under the JETS II contract, providing systems engineering support to the Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) and Project Manager (PM). The Systems Engineer will play a key role in ensuring technical execution aligns with program goals, cost, and schedule, while contributing to the development, integration, and verification of complex systems supporting NASA's human spaceflight programs.
The ideal candidate will have experience in requirements development, systems integration, and verification planning, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and technical teams. This role is well-suited for an engineer who thrives in a dynamic, multi-project environment supporting mission-critical NASA systems.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Lead Systems Engineer in the development and maintenance of system requirements, verification matrices, concept of operations, requirements documents and interface control documents (ICDs).
- Assist the Project Manager and LSE with technical execution, milestone tracking, and integration planning.
- Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and readiness reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.).
- Support requirements decomposition, allocation, and traceability through configuration and data management systems.
- Contribute to the development of verification and validation procedures, ensuring test plans align with program objectives.
- Perform trade studies, system analyses, and technical assessments under direction of the LSE.
- Document and communicate technical risks, issues, and mitigations to the project leadership team.
- Work collaboratively across mechanical, electrical, software, and operations teams to ensure cohesive system integration.
- Support implementation of modern systems engineering practices and process improvements within the project team.

Qualifications - External
Requisition Qualifications:

Required:
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 37 years of experience in systems engineering, integration, or related engineering discipline.
- Understanding of systems engineering fundamentals including requirements management, verification/validation, and configuration control.
- Experience working in a structured engineering environment (NASA, aerospace, defense, or comparable).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
Requisition Preferences:
- Experience supporting NASA programs, projects or comparable government engineering contracts, specifically Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility (EHP), Moon 2 Mars (M2M), Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services (xEVAS) and Human Landing Systems (HLS)
- Experience supporting NASA programs or other federal engineering contracts.
- Familiarity with NASA systems engineering standards (NPR 7123.1, NPR 7150.2, etc.).
- Experience using tools such as Jama, DOORS, Cameo, or other Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) platforms.
- Exposure to multiple project execution frameworks (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid, Lean Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, etc.).
- Ability to work collaboratively under direction of senior engineers and contribute to team-based technical problem solving.
- Active interest in learning and applying new systems engineering techniques to enhance integration and performance.

Essential Functions
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
